" If you take care of God’s business He will take care of your business" The book of Haggai

Haggai along with Zechariah was given the task of stirring up the enthusiasm to rebuild the temple of the Lord. He was to instruct, encourage and also rebuke them after their recent return to the land. Jerusalem was in captivity and became exiles by the Babylonian.  God used the Babylonian as His agent of judgment against Israel for their sins of idolatry and rebellion against Him. God allowed them to be taken by the Babylonians into captivity as it had been prophesied by the prophet Daniel and it did come to past, prophesy was fulfilled. The Israelites were leaning to their own understanding and refusing to obey God.  Jerusalem was plundered, and Solomon's Temple was destroyed. Most of the elite were taken into captivity in Babylon. The city was razed to the ground. Only a few people were permitted to remain to tend to the land. After 70 years in captivity God touched the heart of a King named Cyrus who decided to let the Judeans go back and rebuild God temple. They started but never finished, only the foundation was completed.  15 years later God touched the heart of the new King Darius to let the second trip to be made back to Jerusalem to finish what was started.  The people were taken care of their business and leaving God's business undone.
